I worked at Kimberly-Clark

Pros

At the locations I was at Kimberly-Clark the people were as a rule pretty friendly. The company has a pretty good culture and the pay is very good.
Most of the management is pretty good.

Cons

At the engineering and management level the company always seems perpetually understaffed. Ten hour days are the norm for salaried employees.
Also the general level of co-op advisers varies greatly. KC might think its a good idea to pair a first term co-op to an engineer who's never had a co-op before, but that isn't always good for the co-op.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please give a class on the progress review forms. I have yet to meet a supervisor that fully understands them or even rates the same way as any other. This can lead to some very odd performance variations.

I have been working at Kimberly-Clark

    Pros

    - Some good colleagues who care about driving the business forward
    - decent benefits
    - some work sites located in great locations

    Cons

    - Tom Falk's performance management system has killed morale and driven great employees out
    - Senior leadership makes too many short term decisions to bring in the quarter for Wall Street, little long term vision
    - Leadership occasionally requests employee feedback on how to improve the company to make people believe they are listening but employee input is rarely used to make Kimberly-Clark a more enjoyable place to work like it used to be
    - Technical expertise is not valued in KC anymore, everybody is expected to be jack of all trades master of none
    - Too much emphasis on systems and how work gets done instead of stepping outside the box and getting results

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Eliminate the forced ranking grid and calibration in performance management
    - Make KC a place people want to work by respecting each employee's strengths and using them to drive results
    - Develop all employees with defined career plans

    I worked at Kimberly-Clark

    Pros

Good working hours, most of the people are nice to work with, good location, some career perks such as free Kleenex products.

    Cons

Office is old and stale, not a productive environment to work in. Some senior managers are obnoxious and not very helpful nor pleasant to deal with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Revamp the working environment. Either fix up the entire current office or move the office to a newer building. This will increase worker productivity and increase the bottom line. Have younger management that are more in touch.
