Pros

Kimpton hotels are all different but the people are usually very nice. The company is very progressive and you can be yourself working there.

Cons

Lack of accountability for poor performance in management in many areas Staff levels are kept low and younger and lower employees are often doing multiple jobs Wages could be better

Advice to Management

Pay more attention to personnel management at the lower levels

    Pros

if you have pets is fine, good place to work, open to multiculturalism and not only; good benefits, health benefits

    Cons

The office aria looks awful - that to me shows that they do not really care of their office employee.

    Advice to Management

More open to employee suggestions and proposals; more communication with their peers. As everywhere some improvement is needed at every level.

    Pros

One of my managers once referred to Kimpton as a "touchy-feely" company (he let that slip by accident!) but I have to say that's a somewhat fair description. The corporate philosophy is very positive and that is reflected throughout their policies. Benefits are generous, compensation is fair-to-generous, and the overall attitude towards employees is respectful and encouraging. There is also a playfulness and sense of humor that a lot of companies lose once they get past a certain size; working at Kimpton properties is mostly pleasant and often fun. The company actively promotes charitable causes, but they do so in a very tasteful way that engages customers as well as employees and achieves good results. I was very proud to work for such a good example of what a hospitality company can and should be.

    Cons

It may not be for everyone. In keeping with its California origins, the corporate culture is very liberal and relaxed. This could really bother someone who expects a straight-laced, conservative and disciplined environment. Also, any management philosophy is only as good as those who execute it. On an operational level, the permissive atmosphere may allow weak managers (and employees) to skate by for a lot longer than their more driven associates think they should.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. Please reopen a hotel in New Orleans!
