Very poor. Nurse managers are always fired. No stability. CEO invisible except to make new policies

Nursing (Former Employee) Wilkes-Barre, PA

ProsSalary is not bad. 12 hour shifts for nursing and respiratory. That is it!

ConsNo one will discuss the health benefits upon hire. Costs and deductible are very high. Salaries are frozen. No contribution to retirement.
Critical patients. Poor doctors - physicians do not stay because conditions are so poor.
You are labeled ifyou do not want or are not able to work loads of overtime. Never enough staff
When working 3 12 hour shifts, working more is difficult. Constant calls at home to work more.
No consideration for having a family, children, or needing sleep.
Good nurse manager was let go. She actually cared. Nurse managers do not stay because they are abused. In 10 years there have been 8 or 9 nurse managers. Either walk out or are fired......what does that tell you.
Upper managment does not care
Admissions keep coming whether staff can handle them safely or not.
Incentive are at Tshirt.......really? A T Shirt from the CEO when something is good.
Nursing is so stressed and stretched to the max it is impossible to feel like patients receive good care.
Very frustating for good nurses - so they do not stay.

I have been working at Kindred Healthcare full-time

Pros: Small facility, caring and outstanding CNAs, residents that become… Cons: 'Fortune 500 company' but pay is low, workload is impossible, 1 nurse for a 30+-bed floor of long term… Advice to Senior Management: If you are in a business that takes care of people, then PEOPLE should be your bottom line, not your executive bonuses and how much… No, I would not recommend this company to a friend More
