Current Employee - Respiratory Therapist in Houston, TX
Current Employee - Respiratory Therapist in Houston, TX

I have been working at Kindred Healthcare full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Good people and a good culture mix. Hard working people with a lot going on especially with the transplant patients.

Cons

I have some good days but most of the time management allows non-productive things to go on and it stifles the patients progress.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Grow some balls and take care of the patients first!

I worked at Kindred Healthcare as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Good salary, excellent coworkers... And that's it.

    Cons

management is not qualified. IS management yells at and degrades the staff. They constantly threaten your job since its mostly contract positions, they have no family values, no train the trainer program and very little time to learn, huge turnover rate, above all they don't treat their employees with any sort of respect and are constantly cursing at the trainers. If you accept a job here,go ahead and start looking for another one. You will quickly learn that you are just a contractor to them and not a person. I quit after a year and a half of constant unprofessional behavior by mostly IS management but also by upper management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop treating your staff like the Friday trash. Cursing and yelling at your staff is not professional, and be more personable with all staff, not just the ones giving you Hilton points, Coach purses and free flights. When you tell people you have an open door policy and that there is no retaliation, mean it and keep it confidential. Investigate before you accuse, and lastly, fire yourself because there is no management there that possesses any of these qualities.

I worked at Kindred Healthcare full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits, which they should be since they do not give any pay raises.

    Cons

Where to start? Advertise that they have programs that they do not have, treat employees like garbage, over work employees, management is a joke at best. Often they advertise for positions in which a degree (college) is required. More often someone with a high school education (maybe not, never asked for proof) for positions in which these people are in charge of others. Catty drama with corporate does not ever address. I would never put one of my family members in any of these facilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do your job and make sure that your staff have the PROPER education and DEGREES that are required for the job. Listen to your "low" level staff, and stop acting like you are always helping when state is around Even they know you don't so you are fooling no one!!
