I have been working at Kirkland & Ellis full-time

Pros

Solid litigation experience, excellent for formal training, and very good salary. Also, can help lead to other jobs given the brand name. Also, advancement in the firm is more about the quality of your work product and your commitment to hard work, rather than politics.

Cons

Like many law firms, the hours can be long. At least the pay makes up for it.

Great experience and comp, but plan for not making share partner

I worked at Kirkland & Ellis full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great experience and other educational/networking opportunities. Compensation is top of the market. Share partner comp is huge for the few who make it. Having K&E on your resume opens a lot of doors. Overall, K&E is a good place for a young attorney to work for a few years.

    Cons

Lots of cut-throat arseholes (e.g., every share partner). The realities of life in the jungle will hit early after making NSP. Making SP is extremely difficult and takes more than just being an excellent lawyer--luck plays a huge part.

I've had a very positive experience at Kirkland & Ellis.

I have been working at Kirkland & Ellis full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Competitive salary; generous healthcare benefits; efficiently run; ability to work overtime; nice office building; free in-building gym.

    Cons

Given the focus on billable hours, work-life balance can suffer; on the administration side, doesn't always seem to function as a meritocracy.
