I have been working at Kirkland & Ellis full-time

Pros

Great benefits, good flexibility, interesting cases. Free market system allows involvement in a variety of types of law and working with various practice groups. Great group of people.

Cons

Very little transparency in management. Rank and file know little about what is going on at the corporate level in Chicago. Partners don't communicate that well with staff about the state of the firm.

I worked at Kirkland & Ellis full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Brightest attorneys of any with or against whom I've ever worked. Merit-based advancement and retainment philosophy.

    Cons

Epitomy of "eat what you kill" large law firm. Non-equity partners rarely make equity partner. Harsh environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management would be well-served to make an effort to "come down a little" from their tower and engage with non-management attorneys. Even a regular email communication would help.

    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
