Ambition rising, execution declining

Manager (Former Employee)
San Francisco, CA

I worked at Kixeye full-time for more than 3 years

ProsVery challenging problems to solve. Very smart people to work with. Great job perks. Lots of different technologies to work with.

ConsThe culture of fear the company said they were moving away from has actually returned with a vengeance. No matter how good you are, or how hard you work, you could be fired at any time for any reason, even if only to be made an example of to keep others complicit. This creates an atmosphere of blame, deception, very poor decision making. There is a lack of skilled middle management and many managing people for the first time with little or no training.
Engineers to do not have an equal say in project management or scope and yet get blamed for an inability to meet deadlines they did not agree to and thus most of the time is crunch time.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou are driving away your best talent by not listening to them. Take the time to understand why things are not working before destroying a project. Understand problems are generally not fixed by just firing people. You may want to start by seeing how you may be part of the driving factor behind the problems as instead of blaming the people on the ground you are ignoring.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
