Pros

Benefits for all employees, even part time. 401k and ESOP plan for all. Paid holidays. Promote from within.

Cons

Not enough control of management in stores. Workload is exhausting.Credit goals are excessive.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Balance quality of life in stores, as is Kohls guidelines. Enforce policies that store managers do not.

    I have been working at Kohl's part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

    Good work environment
    Flexible scheduel
    Very accomadating
    Great benefits, got an engagement ring from them while working there and it was amazingly cheap

    Cons

    Like any retail work hours can be crazy sometimes.
    Can be ridgid at times but they are working on it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Allow more creativity in both the lower management and the associated most of the people who work ere really are brilliant.

    I have been working at Kohl's part-time

    Pros

    Large staff means flexible hours. On the job training. Some advancement opportunities. Friendly and loyal customers. Company is very motivated to provide great customer service. Work hard and be positive and your hours will fly by. It's a great starting point to learn valuable retails sales strategies. Also, a good match for older workers not ready to leave the work force just yet. Company also offers benefits even to part time employees.

    Cons

    Nights, weekends and holidays are a must. Generally low pay and greatly fluctuating hours weekly. Credit solicitation is the main focus. You will not get many hours if you are not able to pull in significant, consistent credit card applications during a shift. Annual raises. Small raises.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Be more up front about sales, credit and email goals from day one for any new hire. Be consistent with policies regarding credit solicitation. Staff huddles for sales staff beyond those that open to ensure up to date info for all employees instead of relying on trickle down info flow.
