Kohl's is more concerned with the customer and less with the employee.

I have been working at Kohl's full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

It is never boring. We are busy and always new things to learn.

Cons

Lack of good communication. Very often one hand does not know what the other hand is doing. It appears the company has good intentions, but as it trickles down to the stores it seems to get watered down.

Advice to Management

I believe that District managers should talk with the hourly associates and ask for f direct feedback instead of annonymous surveys. Hourly associates get frustrated when managers are not well trained and constantly blame the hourly associates for the store not looking great and low customer surveys. Kohls could do much more in retaining employees if they would pay the hourly associates more than 7.75 an hour.

    I worked at Kohl's part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Nice coworkers and managers, for the most part. Extra discount for any purchase as an employee with occasional special promotions for even larger discounts.

    Cons

Customers could be extremely rude. Expectations for keeping up the sales floor were sometimes unrealistic considering how insanely busy the store would often get. There frequently were not enough employees on the sales floor to handle all of the work. Minimum wage as a sales associate.

    Advice to Management

Help out the floor employees more often. When it's dead in the store and you're just walking around with nothing to do, and we are absolutely buried... help.

Great people to work with, bad company to work for.

    I worked at Kohl's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The managers were great and so were most of the employees.

    Cons

The company doesn't really care about you. It's a revolving door employer. No one stays for very long because Kohl's doesn't offer a reason TO stay.
