Pros

Young culture, empowered employees, tons of growth, always making positive changes for employees, Kevin Mansell really believes people are #1 asset!

Cons

Not great work-life balance in Planning but has gotten better, few internal promotions to senior Mgmt, awful inter- and intra-department communication, need more staff in the buying office.

Advice to Management

At least provide flexible schedules in the buying office since we work a ton and on weekends w/ laptops if necessary. Having a less rigid 8-5 structure might make our lives a little easier.

    Pros

Pay is fair for hours worked. Vacation fair for time worked. Decent, diverse, hard working people trying to make ends meet in a difficult work environment.

    Cons

Scheduling is awful, no consistency. Very difficult to plan personal time in advance. Guidelines available but often ignored. Customers are equivalent to Kmart shoppers though the stores are more department store oriented. Competency often ignored in place of likeability when determining management placement. Recognition almost nno-existent for pure work performance.

    Advice to Management

Yes, corporations are in business to make money, but you employ human beings. Recognition of performance other than meeting credit goals, and SOME measure of consistency in scheduling will go a long way in making your emplyees happier and in return more productive. The lack of training from top to bottom is unbelievable. If you feel like people there don't know what they're doing, it's because they don't know any better.
