Former Employee - Account Executive
Former Employee - Account Executive

I worked at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Canada

Pros

Great benefits, with a modest base salary. Good products, with good technical support.

Cons

No stability. Every year the compensation (commission) plan changes and every year for the worse. Some districts or areas have a large base where Account Executives can draw from. Others don't. Senior Management don't care about that. Everyone has the same plan and everyone will be evaluated accordingly. No excuses....
Senior management don't care about employees. It is always: " Do it our (ever changing) way or the highway...". Senior Management make decision which ever they want even if the signed employment contract state other. No loyalty.

People are your most valuable asset. Realize that very quick or take another job.

    Pros

It's salaried so you can pay your bills and there is medical cover.

    Cons

The management team will work hard to sell the job to you during interview.

When you join there are unachievable targets each week for instance they'll want 60 face to face meetings a month when you barely have 200 prospects. There is little to no product training. Poor commission. No one there make's their target regularly and management are quick to remove complainers.

When you do make a sale the implementation is terrible and you have to then do all the aplogising and follow up. Often they are out of stock on products and every hurdle towards delivering your sale is put infront of you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Resign and do the shareholders a favour you are not cut out for your role.

I worked at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Canada full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

It was a great experience working with US colleagues. They provided excellent training and the salary was competitive. Marketing pieces were excellent, but did not translate well for Canadian market. Technology advancement is great. Regardless of thoughts on the business, they do make a superior product.

    Cons

The Canadian branch was disjointed and seemed confused on direction. Too many changes at the senior level of management . The corporate direction for the Canadian market seemed unclear. Management was not confident in communication and execution. Very little opportunity to advance your career. Seems a lot like Groundhog Day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Transparency at all levels is needed. Upper Management needs to communicate and execute what it is they are trying to amend or change. Direction can change or seem unsettled and confusing.
