Pros

Kraft foods offers good salary levels and great benefits, a supportive work environment, and some great opportunity for advancement. They give you a company car with all expenses paid, and the opportunity to win trips and other things for acheiving sales goals. Good bonus plan and reachable sales goals. Good equipment and data to help with sales presentations. Great people to work with and a good, positive work environment. Kraft is a solid company and the food business is somewhat recession proof.

Cons

Not as many opportunities unless you are able to relocate. Salaries do not get really high although you can make a good living working for kraft.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide state of the art sales marterials to the sales staff, provide latest information gathering systems to sales staff. Continue to develop healthy foods across all categories to remain competetive.

    A Great Taste for Kraft

    Pros

Kraft employees are typically unafraid to give without necessarily receiving. There is a spirit of helpfulness found in most corporate offices & plants; a willingness to lend time, talent & muscle to do the right thing, get the job done, & do it well, with satisfaction ... sure, there are employees who camp out, angle for the next rung of another ladder, & spend a great deal of effort looking for clever ways to avoid work; but the significant majority work smart, work harder, work beyond their pay-grade, and work well with folks at all levels of the food chain.

    Cons

The flavor of the month syndrome, & what often appears to be change for the sake of change. Seems it's not unique to Kraft since it's the same song I hear from colleagues in other businesses ... We do seem to sift through the migrant executive detritus & scoop up the occasional senior V.P. with loads of credentials but little substance. Perhaps the real downside to working for Kraft ... there just aren't enough highly compensated positions for all of us who deserve to be highly compensated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Choose outperform over outsource. And to the board ... stay the course with Irene, apparently she was, indeed, the right choice the first time ... and don't ever consider dual (dueling) executives again. Where were the board members with enough guts to shoot that suggestion down? We're still correcting the course from that disaster.

    Pros

Solid, stable company. Ethical company. Good quality products. Policies reflect good social conscience of the organization. Fair compensation. Reasonable expectations regarding employee workload.

    Cons

Kraft buys and sells brands based on performance. Risk of working for a brand that may get sold off. Large company - moves very slowly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Vision for the company is strong. Vision for each brand is strong. Vision for the functions is not strong. Procurement, R&D, Engineering, Supply Chain, etc. - the functions exist, but lack a clearly defined vision and mission. This results in inconsistencies in how the various functions tie back to support the vision and mission of the various business units. Ultimately, there is a real cost in $$$ associated with this lack of alignment. This is an opportunity for Kraft and an area where inefficiencies could be removed through better strategic alignment of the functions.
