My time with the company went from ok to great and then slowly descended to almost nothing, relevant work was elsewhere.

I have been working at Kratos Defense & Security Solutions

Pros

Once contract award was announced and the focus went towards the Program Director, Project Manager and the team, that allowed things to really start rolling along.
Interaction between the different matrix professionals was usually extremely good, this allowed some of the more difficult pieces to the puzzle to align or be identified correctly.
In very many cases communications internal were as important as the external and that became more evident with the small successes becoming much more of the bigger picture.

Cons

Many times communications with regards to folks being moved into other supporting roles on other teams as their current work was ending became a no communications situation until it was a go/no go situation, very nerve racking.
Some of the most consistent hard working folks on overhead or the business unit were just not treated well by their immediate supervisor, this sometimes made it difficult to establish good communications with the entire group. The supervisor not any of the working folks caused angst.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

As acquisitions of smaller more diverse companies are added into the ever growing family, more attention needs to be paid to contractual diversity or the vehicles that support the company conducting business as a larger, more dynamic machine in the world of defense contracting. The days of the less than one million dollar contract should be gone and the entire company's game has to be raised to compete on a much grander scale.

    Pros

Excellent management, great salary, amazing benefits. Main office people who care about you as an individual and not just as an employee number. Make you feel like your contribution is important.

    Cons

Sometimes subcontract with the wrong people. The only other problem is, as a subcontractor, you can't work there forever.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you're doing! That being said, do due diligence on Prime contractors.

I worked at Kratos Defense & Security Solutions

    Pros

decent pay, flexible hours, decent onboarding, lots of like-minded colleagues, made good connections

    Cons

because you are working on large government contracts, there's a lot of oversight, all work is tracked down to the minute, i didn't end up performing the job that I was hired to do. ended up doing data entry more than anything

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

do a better job bidding contracts so that it is not always feast and famine
