Current Employee - Customer Service Clerk in Spring, TX

I have been working at Kroger part-time (less than an year)

Pros

Good entry level job for high school students
Co-workers become your friends
Provides experience
Make lasting connections

Cons

Pay is low no matter work experience or work ethic
No bonuses even on holidays
Not allowed to work overtime
Rarely receive raises
If the part-time job is shift work then don't count on getting days that you want off
High turnover rate
Lack of employees leads part-time jobs to have 40+ hour weeks

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase salary or include bonuses. These "free items" are usually bad tasting and too sparse. Kroger's employees as a collective feel that we are given these "free products" because our customers won't buy them themselves. I will guarantee that by increasing the money given to employees the part-time employees will become loyal employees.

I worked at Kroger full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Getting paid every week that's it

    Cons

No set schedule, management not standing up for employees, no restrooms close to registers, no refrigerators at my location for lunches, thumb print readers don't work properly

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees, actually help when needed, upper management talking to employess not just when they need something, make set schedules, monitor people that aren't working during there shift and actually give it to someone that wants it and will work

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Kroger part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

As far as part time jobs go, it's not the worst I've ever had. There was a sense of camaraderie a midst my coworkers at least.

    Cons

It was a lot of hard work. We all got kind of abused for minimum wage. I never got paid nearly enough for some of the stuff I had to do, and my managers were always jerks to me.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more understanding when something happens to your employees, and they can't make it to work. (i.e. a snow storm that buries their neighborhood in 2 miles of glassy ice)

    Neutral Outlook
