Former Employee - Software Engineer in Blue Ash, OH

I worked at Kroger as an intern (more than an year)

Pros

The work environment was comfortable and productive. The people (coworkers and clients) were great to work with. The technologies used were fun to work with, though some were a bit outdated.

Cons

Pay was not very competitive

Work location was easier to reach when the tech center was located in downtown Cincinnati

Advice to ManagementAdvice

I loved management. They were nice and easy to talk to, and listened to what employees had to say. I just wish HR wasn't as tight on pay. The maximum HR allowed to pay at entry level was only about 1/2 to 2/3 what all of my other offers were from other companies. I hear that HR is working to make things more competitive and a lot of rules are currently changing, so I see issues like this to be resolved in the future, and I hope to return someday. I really wanted to stay, but at the time the salary difference was just too great, and I ended up deciding to leave. However, the career-developing experience I received while I was there was unforgettable; I don't regret a second of working with this company. I never wanted to go home.
