Kroger – “Not for long term employment

Kroger Supervisor:   (Past Employee - 2007)

Pros

This place is good for young people still going to school, but that's it. They are fairly flexible with scheduling. However, it is DEFINITELY not a place to build your career. It would take forever to get to any sort of meaningful position.

Cons

Highly subjective review process, lack of communication from upper management down to floor employees, lack of substantive policy on training and development.

Advice to Senior Management

Formalize some of your training and development criteria. Some people are busting their butt to prove themselves, while others just do the bare minimum. However, the promotions are based on seniority, so the hardworking people give up knowing that no matter what, they will not be promoted.
