I worked at Kroll Ontrack full-time for more than 8 years

Pros

There are several different groups within the development group. They work very well individually and together with other teams. Most managers allow some flexibility in your work; you can talk to other employees about non-work-related stuff for short periods of time, as long as you get your work done. The technology is not bleeding-edge, but fairly current. They generally use the standard waterfall methodology, but are experimenting with agile. One of the best things about the company is how open they are about their financials; they have quarterly employee meetings to discuss how the previous quarter went and their goals for the coming quarter. The senior management is top-rate and very approachable.

Cons

The documentation for projects is sometimes not as detailed as it could be. The employees have stressed that this needs improvement in meetings, but it still needs work. The benefits used to be quite good, but were reduced somewhat after Altegrity purchased Kroll.

I have been working at Kroll Ontrack full-time

    Pros

There are some great people, however most are not allowed to do their job or are not given the proper authority to be effective.

    Cons

There are so many issues with this company. Financially they are doing so poorly that they are cuttiing employee benefits right and left. No 401kability match anymore, very poor medical...not at all comparable to other companies of similar size and revenue.

They are now eliminating positions to save more money, however they are still not investing in the key areas that will allow them to turn their financials around as they are heading south with no sign of turn around. They are still not investing in product management (though some will say they are)...they need experienced product management, not former developers and legal folks in those roles!

Company has a very hostile work environment!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in your employees, listen to them! Eliminate inexperienced product management and replace with experienced folks that can get products right the first time. Support employees tasked with changing the culture, don't turn a blind eye too those in management that are just giving you lip service...because most of the senior mgt is either ineffective or not being truthful when they say they support the CEO's vision.

I have been working at Kroll Ontrack full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    CEO talks a good game.

    Cons

    Stripped of benefits.
    No more 401k match.
6 month deferral of possible raise.
    No bonus.
Benefits bare bones. HR director caught stating in general take the HSA and if you need more health benefits that is not our problem.
Zero focus on employees-yet employees bring the revenue and keep the company running
It has become very petty: pay day donut program cut to 1x per month to save money, change coffee vendor-charge for coffee, and charging additional 10 cents per can of pop. People wait for coin operated stalls to be implemented.
    No holiday party
Morale extremely low. Nothing pointing to employee appreciation or acknowledgement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Everyone makes a company run and grow. Not just the couple executives.
