Current Employee - Software Engineer in Chelmsford, MA

I have been working at Kronos Incorporated full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Good compensation, good people, good commute. Flexible work schedule. Usually a resonable work/life balance. Strong senior management.

Cons

No career growth. Job security shaky. Tenured staff seen as a liability not an asset. Line level management needs more training developing staff. No growth in U.S. Engineering organization in a good economy. Layoffs in a bad economy.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be greedy in the overseas growth strategy without evaluating ROI on a longer timeline. Everything comes at a cost. Take a longer term view, and see what the ROI is before going all in. There is a real risk at alienating the remaining U.S. based engineering workforce to a point beyond repair that could have serious, long term consequences.

Kronos is a good company, the Indy center needs some help.

    Pros

    Benefits, training, flexibility, employees, CEO.

    Cons

Favoritism, unorganized, underpaid, work-life balance, no options to work from home.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The training should be more geared towards being an effective consultant since that is the majority of what we do. Timekeeper training was very good, but other products were not as thought out. Also, if there is going to be an SC to AC split, then that actually needs to happen. Processes need to be implemented and what management calls 'whining' could actually be a great tool in making the processes better. Listen to your employees, especially your more experienced ones. Also, look out for your employees and put them first. Most of all, do not play favorites. Also, it would be nice to have some family friendly events as opposed to the adult only events. I think the Indy center is on the right track and can become better.

Also, you may want to scratch the 'lateral' moves and actually give people more pay for taking on more responsibility.

Kronos is fair, but very corporate

I have been working at Kronos Incorporated full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Kronos provides their employees with fair and competitive salaries. There is opportunity for advancement. They are flexible and offer a wide range of remote positions.

    Cons

Kronos has a very corporate-centric culture, the bottom line is the end all/be all, they often forget that employees are also humans. Annual lay-offs are normal and employees are often treated like disposable objects.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not treat your employees like people - it's not just "business" - it is personal.
