I worked at L-3 Communications full-time (more than 8 years)

Pros

Excellent compensation. Respectful, professional environment. Top-notch group of people, who KNOW what they're doing. In-house fitness center. Diverse customer base means business cycles are less severe than you'll see elsewhere. Despite very weak DoD climate they have RESISTED having to lay people off, and you have to respect that.

Cons

Their business has been weak in the last several years, and unfortunately they've had to let go of many good people. That's why I say, if you have the opportunity to work there, or you're there and are frustrated, STICK IT OUT.

    Pros

The people I worked with at Linkabit were outstanding professionally and personaly.

    Cons

    Management is continually changing focus.
Business persuits dwindled to one or two products resulting in massive layoffs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should stop pushing so hard to the "Lean" dynamic.
The company has lost it's heart. Good workers won't be loyal if it continues the way it is.

    Pros

Small company feel so employees don't feel lost in a sea of 100,000 employees

    Cons

Each division operates independently so not easy to cross pollinate ideas, best practices, opportunities, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reduce operating cost by federating shared services such as time sheet systems, travel and expense software, accounts payables, etc.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
