I worked at L-3 Communications full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Great benefits, Flexible Work Hours, Competitive Salaries

Cons

Lack of name recognition in industry
Constant reorgs due to local President's retiring or moving on

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put in a President of the company (at the subsidiary level) who wants to stay in position for 10+ years. This constant change made it very difficult for all managers / directors to know and understand company policies and procedures.

    Pros

Alternate Fridays off; training available and encouraged; genarally friendly, cooperative atmosphere; free ice cream during summer during 44 hour weeks

    Cons

Limited office space (some small cubes or two people in offices barely larger than full size cubes); what should be obvious information not always shared; inter group communication not always timely leading to unmet expectations

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Groups that depend on other groups help need to give them sufficient lead time and data to allow useful results

    I worked at L-3 Communications

    Pros

Small company feel so employees don't feel lost in a sea of 100,000 employees

    Cons

Each division operates independently so not easy to cross pollinate ideas, best practices, opportunities, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reduce operating cost by federating shared services such as time sheet systems, travel and expense software, accounts payables, etc.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
