I have been working at L-3 Communications full-time (more than a year)

Pros

Great company with a positive team mentality. Personal time is really flexible as long as work is complete.

Cons

With contractual work, the uncomfortable feeling always lingers as every contract comes to an end. No holiday bonuses exist. There is no room for growth and pay raises are very few and very far. Creative and innovative ideas are not welcome.

I worked at L-3 Communications as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, got an oppportunity to help out at different parts of the company. Very open ended. 9/80 schedule was nice - three day weekends every other week.

    Cons

Lack of company culture. Very corporate - most people didn't seem to really interact outside of their work

I worked at L-3 Communications full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Small work groups. Engineers are empowered to make key decisions. No micro management. Exciting new projects to work on. Very good support from management for lab equipment, parts and material.

    Cons

schedules are a bit tight . Space hardware development is a small niche in engineering which requires sometimes long, laborious weeks performing tedious equations which all look the same for the space customer. If that's your work desire, you'll be happy at L-3.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the decisions about engineering in the hands of the engineers, as is the status quo.
