I have been working at L-3 Communications full-time for more than a year

Pros

Great company with a positive team mentality. Personal time is really flexible as long as work is complete.

Cons

With contractual work, the uncomfortable feeling always lingers as every contract comes to an end. No holiday bonuses exist. There is no room for growth and pay raises are very few and very far. Creative and innovative ideas are not welcome.

I worked at L-3 Communications full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - 4/10 work schedule and Fridays off are the only reason to work here.

    Cons

    - Inept senior leadership ranks filled with spineless engineers and yes men/women.
    - Ineffective managers with University of Phoenix or online-degree credentials
    - Inbred environment with husbands, wives, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, cronies, and church colleagues getting preference for top jobs over talented up-and-comers
    - Group think and intellectual laziness
    - An exodus of talent underway, while the "deadwood" continues to fester
    - Stagnant products, little idea generation, and an unwillingness to invest in customer service
    - No accountability - people get promoted when they screw up

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lay yourself off next time. You don't deserve to be in the job you're in, making the salary you're making. Get a real degree, get some actual experience at another company, and learn to think for yourself.

I worked at L-3 Communications full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Leading edge product set. Exhaustive testing provides for very high qualty products. Professional environment. Many extremely talented people building very complex communications systems.

    Cons

Some really bad managers. Very difficult to change career paths. Only ABET associated engineering schools are accepted for engineering credentials. All others are considered inferior and those with non-ABET degrees are treated as inferiors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let your employees evaluate you and try taking some ethics training yourselves.
