I worked at L-3 Communications full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Decent Pay, Benefits & work Life Balance

Cons

The new president of the Muskegon, MI L-3 CPS division that took over in 2012 has no clue how to run a company and is far worse than the prior president. The current president was put there by L-3 corporate and does not want to be in that role. He has a rental car, rental house and fly's back & forth every week back to Texas. As a result, there is no leadership and each of his VP's pursue their own personal agenda and not unified company goals. He allows his VP's to run wild and in doing so has created a culture where VP's preach ethics and professionalism but do not practice it. They looks to blame others for failure and take credit for others successes.

    Pros

Salary and benefits were very good for the area Other than Baylor University this company offers the best paying jobs in the Waco area and the management at L-3 knows this and uses it to their advantage

    Cons

Very poor management Facility cleanliness & upkeep some of the worst I have ever experienced, Tools to do one's job are provided by individuals who have no idea what the job entails thus, in many instances, the tools are inadequate leading to excessive work and very long hours on the job.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring buddies. Instead, get qualified personnel into positions to improve the company. Incorporate the 360 Appraisal Process Listen to your employees, especially new ones. You hired them for a reason. The primary usually being their previous corporate experience and the other being their professional capabilities.
