I worked at L-3 Communications full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Generous salaries (atleast in the DC area)`

Cons

Again not Centrally organized thus internal competition is viscous between divisions.

I have been working at L-3 Communications full-time

    Pros

Strong leadership team, great benefits and performance bonuses. Many opportunities to change culture to large company mindset and capabilities. Diverse group of talented individuals. Divisions keep a family feel and respect workers.

    Cons

Mediocre merit increases. Schedule pressures have caused quality issues. Many small companies versus a centralized company focus. Sustaining operations often override strategic drive, and innovation frequently defers to profit.

    Advice to Management

Expand and innovate. Increase the base instead of managing by attrition to meet profit goals. Do what it takes to attract and retain talent, across all departments.

The "even-Steven" job: work was neither easier or hard; success wasn't celebrated and failure wasn't reprimanded

I worked at L-3 Communications full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

People are the best assets at L-3. Option for 4-day work week, great benefits and protocols for nearly any issue that could arise

    Cons

Govt. contract business. Work and progress was extremely slow. Innovation isn't really encouraged. "We've done it this way for 50 years, and we're going to keep doing it for 50 years"

    Advice to Management

Look to create more innovation and newer markets. The govt. can't be your only customer anymore
