I have been working at L'Occitane

Pros

you can work with great people sometimes, good products, good history and theres always something new coming out

Cons

no clear direction from overhead sometimes, merchandising changes all the time, customers can run your reputation into the ground, computers break a lot. payroll always seems to be an issue and even when you're doing well you don't always get extra. if you have problems you may get moved to another store.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your associates! if they do really well normally and suddenly that changes, chances are it is not them and it is the business. if you agree to something, follow through or it makes the staff look bad if they can't do the same. too much time is being spent on gaining new clients with all of these promotions that are hard to keep track of. streamline things to make it easier.

    Constantly changing stress inducing goals

I have been working at L'Occitane

    Pros

    Easy tasks
    Fair Wage
Nice amount of hours per week
    Gratis
    Opportunity to bonus
    Nice people
    Good Product Training

    Cons

Higher Management is constantly changing their focus in three month periods. The goals they set for each store are unrealistic and even though no stores in the area are meeting the goals, the management still pushes the store managers until they are stressed to their limits. This in turn, trickles down to the PTSAs. This wouldn't be so bad if they were focusing on sales numbers, but it's never about sales numbers. It's always about who can sell the most of one product.

The company isn't very green with the way they dispose of old products and testers. They pour them down the sinks or throw them all into a trash compactor.

If you aren't into giving people 'mini- facials' then you might want to reconsider applying. This company hosts several events a year that feature giving people facials, awkwardly in a directors chair.

Depending on the store you work at, majority of your shifts will be spent alone for long periods of time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please, please, listen to your store managers when they give you feedback on events.
Please set more achievable goals or at least be happy when the sales goals are met and don't focus so much on selling individual products.
