I worked at LECO Corp

Pros

It is a privately held company that has enjoyed a leadership position in their field and they are very conscientious to treat and maintain their employees well. It is a very professional environment .Once you are in, they treat you with respect and there are some good perks for the right individual at the right time.

Cons

The openings and the positions available are few and somewhat specialized. The top or upper management can be very dictator-like and makes sudden unannounced discharges for any tiny infraction or disagreement to the status quo. There is no real formal training available to new hires and the process to begin is all but invisible or ambiguous at best

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get more familiar with each and every worker and allow them a chance to develop once hired by affording them better opportunities for growth or lateral transition opportunities. Don't intimidate people with your power or overbearing influence because you hold the wealth in your bank account personally, make self-sacrifice and tolerance along with friendliness and higher starting pay and benefits available. You MUST have better wages in order to attract better people. You MUST have a Formal TRAINING program and continuous improvement implemented in order to prepare your service people and sales force. Especially the service people. If you do not, then you embarrass them and you will not be providing the customer with any real quality or service.

    I worked at LECO Corp full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    People within the Organization in Corporate Headquarters show a true interest to do teamwork. Nice offices in the Corporate Headquarters. Nice participation in tradeshows when it comes to Corporate Headquarters.

    Cons

    1.- Training: Employees don't travel from other countries just to be fed.Repeating the same stuff over and over again don't make people learn more or even get questions solved. Zero commercial-strategy training in order to attack the market aggresively.
    2.- Lack of respect for people: Sexist, chauvinistic. Passive-aggressive criticism over religious beliefs, lifestyle, hobbies from local and corporate managers and coworkers.
    3.- Bullying-mobbing-backstabbing: Managers in subsidiaries make open fun of your communications, insult and overreact negatively over employees requests, recommendations and questionning.
    4.- Communication skills: No communication flows neither objectively nor in time.
    5.- Leadership / Teamwork: Bosses and coworkers are true stoppers to get anything done.
    6.- No business processes / no business focus: Standard operational procedures and policies within subsidiary are far from updated. Improductive meetings. No busines plans, no true commercial strategy.
    7.- Any attempt to be proactive is and will be taken negatively by management. Then you will be blamed for not reaching the goals established.
    8.- Invasion of privacy / lack of trust on employees: Installing GPS in your mobile phone and security survelliance with no previous notice makes you feel like as if you were a delinquent rather than re-inforcing SECURITY either when travelling or while working in the offices.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pay attention to your subsidiary in Mexico. The more unproffessional people you keep working there and justifying their "procedures", the worse the results you will get. Keep an eye on your Regional Commercial Director as well...
