I have been working at LRN full-time

    Pros

LRN has some of the brightest, most inspiring and dedicated individuals out there. They recruit people who not only care about the work the do, but the company in which they are doing it for. LRN's mission of Inspiring Principled Performance is one that is seamlessly integrated into all its work.

    Cons

Every company has its weaknesses at times. Because it is a smaller company, tasks can get delegated around to colleagues that already have a lot on their plate and are expected to fulfill multiple roles. Although this can be a chance to learn more, it can be overwhelming.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

    - Friendly, fun people - Good work, life balance - No limit vacation policy - All the Snapple you can drink

    Cons

    - Low compensation and not even a cost-of-living increase from year to year - Tortured employee review process - Because of the no-title, flat structure edict - no opportunity for advancement - Turnover rate makes it nearly impossible for the company to maintain institutional knowledge causing constant inefficiencies - Ongoing defections erode morale - No written code of conduct - unbelievable for an ethics company - No real focus on, just talk about, customer service - Many people are really afraid of senior management and of losing their jobs - Stated values of Integrity, Humility, Passion and Truth are just words and are not meaningful in daily life at LRN - All the HOW talk is especially irritating when you see how senior management treats people

    Advice to Management

Acknowledge that employees are afraid and confirm the source of the fear. Focus more on customer service and don't assume that your product is the best in the market.
