Labcorp – “benefits are being cut!!!”
Pros
Flexible schedule, management stays out of the way, good amount of vacation,
Cons
High employee turnover. Pay is below average, review process is flawed at best and is usually faked to to meet the numbers management is given.
Starting January of 2010 the 401k matching benefit is being cut.
The pension plan has been halted (3 percent of yearly earnings and now goes toward new 401k) with no matching.
In 2009 the employees were told that in order to weather the recession raises were being limited to 2 percent max.(Dave King made an extra 1 million this year) And the company is making record profits. Further there is no chance of advancement in the labs. We have been told many times that after a few years they want older employees to leave "move on..."
Right now it is very obvious that the older (5+ year) lab workers are being pushed to leave so they can be replaced with college graduates or when they can cheaper high school graduates.
Advice to Senior Management
David King came in talking about changing and improving the treatment of and communication with the employees. Instead conditions have gotten much worse. The real focus is obviously squeezing as much profit out the company as possible. This sadly is at the cost of professional experience and competence in the lab and a poorer over all service to the customer. I as an employee of lab corp for almost a decade no longer want my own or my families medical testing done here. I would rather pay to have it run in another lab than use the free testing benefit I get as an employee.
