I worked at Landry's full-time (more than 8 years)

Pros

They give you extensive training no matter position you hold. There are systems in place how to handle different situations. They do promote from within. Quality of life for management is pretty good as well.

Cons

Pay for managers is on the lower side. Hard to get promoted . They micro-manage way too much.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take the time to look at employees that are bought in to the chain and promote more often based on performance. Even possibly having a protocol for GM's to be on the lookout for employees who deserve promotion. Not having corporate constantly micro managing GM's so they can perform better without always feeling pressured.

I have been working at Landry's full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    decent money in the summertime
got to work on the water and see dolphins and pelicans
sometimes have cool incentives to win contests (cash, prizes, etc...)

    Cons

60 hour scheduled work weeks (as servers)
    rules and polices always changing
always make one more hoop for you to jump through to meet your required standards
they can turn on you in a second

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

please create some consistency in your policies. At my store policies are different from manager to manager, and from week to week. A new corporate email creates a frenzy that lasts all of 10 days, and then something different comes up which is supposed to be the newest frenzy. It is exhausting trying to keep up.
