Latham & Watkins – “Nothing special as far as firms go”

Pros

Good pay and respected clients. Talented lawyers. Latham is a nationally known firm with a good reputation on both coasts.

Cons

Latham prides itself on being different from other big firms, somehow having a "better" culture that sets itself apart. I did not find this to be the case. As an associate in New York I worked with very difficult partners which soured my experience.

Advice to Senior Management

Stop taking yourself so seriously. It always seemed to me that the firm was all-concerned about being considered on par reputationally as the top 5 firms in the country. Underneath is a massive inferiority complex.
