Pros

Benefits, Close to Restaurants & Bars

Cons

Do not mess with the status quo. If you challenge it, you will not get far in the organization. Management is unprofessional and does not treat employees equally. Favoritism like I have never seen in any organization. No clear vision and the President (she) is obsolete. She spoke about healthy org through emails, but never did anything about it.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Replace most of Sr. management and/or bring in a top notch management consulting firm to help steer the ship.

I have been working at Laureate Education full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great area in downtown Baltimore
    Decent starting pay
work/life balance is good if you're a salaried employee, not so much if you're hourly
    Great diversity of people
Leadership is easy to talk to

    Cons

Career advancement is almost non-existent. Unless you're in the "in-crowd" or as they say, "create a position/opportunity for yourself", be prepared to be in your same position for 2,5, or 10 years.

Lots of emphasis on growing the business internationally. But Laureate is dropping the ball on focusing right here in the U.S. and creating opportunities here. 5 schools under Laureate in the U.S., but 60+ internationally. I like the growth but I shouldn't have to consider moving to Gdansk, Poland for career advancement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Happy employees means a growing business. Career growth is needed. You'd be surprised how much talent and expertise is on the bottom/entry-level that could truly impact the business. Some of your "leaders" are just punching the clock and are out of touch.

I worked at Laureate Education full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to work at a growing company in a small city with other professionals, some of who are great people.

    Cons

Large focus on big promises to upper management without much thought for how to deliver the goods, and then a nasty blame game.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Manage the business with a passion for the quality of our product and people, and don't make decisions just to CYA.
