Pleasant life/work balance

Systems and Network Senior Associate (Current Employee) Livermore, CA

ProsGood retirement compensation (401K, 9.5%-11.5% contribution of pre-tax salary) Many projects to work on. Some are very fascinating. Very relaxed environment.

ConsFar-too relaxed environment. Very federated. Groups working at cross-purposes. Poor career advancement by way of committees of people that don't know you, strange.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere are far too many of you. Get out of the way. Seek the expertise of your employees.

    Only OK, but barely.

Computer Scientist (Current Employee) Livermore, CA

I have been working at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

Pros: Employees are mostly treated fairly and with respect, at least on the surface. Flexible working time. Lots of collaborations with other DOE labs and universities. Competitive salaries… Cons: No bonus. No real incentive to keep employees doing great job. Layers and layers of intrusive security rules , no gmail, no facebook, no incoming… Advice to Senior Management: Please eliminate the layers of managers to reduce overhead More
