I worked at LeapFrog full-time for more than a year

Pros

Great portfolio of products, strong brand with an attractive story and passionate people. In the current economic climate, educational entertainment is going to be even more attractive to parents. The company also has shown an ability to (re) invent itself and when it was going through a rough patch was very daring to invest in new product develpment.

Cons

Very male and sales oriented. No real (international) long term strategy and lack of international vision / very US focussed. Originally the company was rooted in the toy industry and it does not do enough to break out of that mould and to re-position themelves. Most division operate in silos and overalll there is a lack of sensibility / common sense

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set up / agree an international structure (embedded in HQ) and develop a long term plan around the brand and not the products

I have been working at LeapFrog full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great products with a great story and heritage behind it
Easy to connect with target audiences, communities etc. and to get them engaged
Very passionate employees who care about the mission behind the company
Good 'niche' between toys, education and digital entertainment

    Cons

    Extremely US centric
Long term strategy non existent and as far as it exists it is very product lead and not brand and/or audience determined
    No real international strategy
    Poor internal communication
    Very sales focussed

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a step back, determine the long term vision with regards to which audiences we want to interact with (in the future), what we want them to believe and how to achieve that in terms of communications & advertising strategy and product portfolio
Take more time to explain to the company the path we are on and communicate better if this changes
Let sales follow the lead from marketing in terms of how the products should be positioned
    Be less US centrid

I have been working at LeapFrog full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

People are excellent. There are many talented artisti, musicians, engineers at LeapFrog. They are pleasant, playful and respectful colleagues. It is rewarding to make LeapFrog products, educational content is certainly something to take pride in.

    Cons

Lacks collaborative environment, cross-functional communication, or learning opportunities. There is a general lack of clear processes, or ownership at LeapFrog.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Talented people are not going to wait around forever.
