Pros

A collegiate environment, sharing of reagents, equiptment, ideas and protocols.
A diverse group of investigators that merge different disciplines

Cons

Many of the lab spaces are old and outdated, the temperature at season transitions is poorly maintained and the ventilation system is filthy.

I have been working at Lehigh University full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Small enough to collaborate across disciplines, large enough to have a good sized graduate programs. Smart undergrads. Beautiful campus. Everyone teaches.

    Cons

Slow to adapt. Faculty believe they should be involved in running the university but do not have the time to do so. Teaching load is a little high given research expectations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Empower your faculty to do great things, and then get out of their way.
