I have been working at Level 3 Communications as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

You get to work on a team of professionals who like to get things done. You aren't the typical 'get the coffee' intern. There are various responsibilities that the intern must perform from billing to contract analysis

    Cons

Because Level 3 is a big company, it is sometimes difficult to get information from other departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reduce the amount of systems in use.

I have been working at Level 3 Communications full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Large domestic and global network. An OK product mix and relatively good engineering base.

    Cons

Network built by acquisitions still running on original systems in most cases not talking to one another. Little to no investment in new technologies and talent development.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Growth through acquisitions only takes you so far. You remind me of MCI. I just hope you don't end up the same way. You need to decide if you are a telecom company or an investment house. Focus on basics and pay more attention to people, especially in Product and Delivery areas.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
