Pros

Lots of desire to dominate the world of communications. Well capitalized. Generally pays very well. Beautiful campus set near Denver Colorado.

Cons

Difficult to accomplish some projects because of "pocket veto". Overly focused on capex expenses as opposed to operating costs. Has become less agile as it has grown larger and larger.

Advice to Management

Great place if you are lucky to have one of the existing gold mine accounts.

    Pros

Good network, solid technical delivery to Fortune 50 customers and large internet providers of larger pipes. Big bandwidth users just keep buying more.

    Cons

Everything outside of their wholesale, service provider and content business. B2B services for SMB market and Enterprise are a joke with small footprint and reluctance to serve what they call "OFF NET" locations (which most businesses are). Don't take a B2B sales job here, it is a turnover factory.

    Advice to Management

Stick to the wholesale backbone business, you have no clue how to sell to the B2B market and lack any consumer segment revenue to support solid last mile products, you will never beat AT&T or VZ at this game. Service offerings are simply not competitive.

    Pros

Good compensation and benefits. Very good network and some very smart technical people work at Level 3.

    Cons

Incompetent management team. This company has never made a profit but is still in business. If the managers make a mistake or provide poor leadership you can't say anything or you'll get fired or given a poor performance rating. Only people with connections are promoted. There are many Directors and VP's who are not qualified for their positions. Many incompetent people work there and can't lose their jobs because they're connected. Worst company I've ever worked for or been associated with. The Broomfield office is full of strange people who are out of touch with reality.

    Advice to Management

Break the company apart and sell the pieces off. Too much debt and the management team doesn't know how to make a profit.
