I worked at Leverage Marketing full-time for more than a year

Pros

Easy to get hired on, real account experience and quick promotion due to employee turnover. Job security through attrition.

Cons

You will work with too many low spend clients and deal with a lack of expertise by management & sales to bring in the big clients. even if you do get a big client you will likely lose them as this agency can not live up to the expectations they set.

Poor upper management, Lack of quality clients and overwhelming work loads and no bonuses.
High employee turn around. How high? Try 4 PPC directors in 1 year and all internal hires because not one would take the position as a new hire.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you do anything fire the GM and bring in a real specialist who turns around troubled companies, Rethink your business model and stop taking clients who cost the company more than they bring in revenue.

    I have been working at Leverage Marketing

    Pros

    If you can't get a job any where else and need something to pay the bills (not many bills just some bills) this is a good choice.
    They hire people quick and don't do background checks or check references.
    Some of the people are fun to talk to and have businesses on the side

    Cons

    Leverage Marketing is not a place where smart people stay for any length of time.
    You will often wonder if you are the smartest person that works there.
    If you get annoyed by people who don't do anything, but still get paid you shouldn't join the sales department. They never sell anything, but continue to have jobs.
    People quit here all of the time in search of better paying jobs with more established companies.
    The management team seems oblivious to the fact that no one actually understands PPC or SEO as well as a company should that gets paid to perform services for customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    What is your plan for growing the business? Some companies that two years old have been sold for 10 million dollars.
    Inspire your employees and try to get good, smart employees not just desperate ones.

    I worked at Leverage Marketing

    Pros

    Originally, working at Leverage seemed to be promising as the company was growing and my direct manager expressed the need to hire people who could take the company to the next level and create a culture to sustain success.

    Cons

    As a salesperson, the most disheartening con is the poor customer service/account management. In short, I lost over half of my clients sold before they even billed, and each case clearly pointed to dropped balls by the department we handed off to after it was sold.

    The root cause of all downsides related to the VP in charge of operations. This person was in way over their head and to compensate for their shortcomings and complete lack of people skills, they would institute boiler-room type management - required to make high volume dials from a database of aged leads that had been purchased a year before they were given to the salespeople... rather than allowing salespeople to research to make intelligent calls. Salespeople with a history of success were given no respect by this VP who appeared to have little meaningful experience prior to this role, but I suspect he padded his resume based on his bio on the company website, using words repetitively like "vast" and "countless" to describe his experiences and skills at 25... this is not to say that a 25 year old couldn't be qualified, but this one clearly had a complex counter to sound management - and most every employee was stumped as to why the owner of the company could be so hoodwinked by this person unless he had some blackmail-worthy scoop on him.

    As far as the company's vision, it was too limited as a traditional google adwords agency paid a percentage of adwords spend and unless they changed their service offering to address the burgeoning social sites, it would go out of business.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Sell the company to owners now while there is some (any?) value to a company/people who have the strategy and management expertise to keep and grow the client base.
