Former Employee - Product Development Intern in San Francisco, CA
Former Employee - Product Development Intern in San Francisco, CA

I worked at Levi Strauss as an intern (less than an year)

Pros

There is no coffee getting or dry cleaning at this internship! The internship was over a 10 week period during the summer. I got to work on a multitude of projects not only in my department but also with the other interns. We had in-depth meetings with the major leaders of the brand as well as with the CEO. This was an amazing opportunity and I definitely would be interested in working there when I graduate.

Cons

They were not able to offer any jobs at the end of the internship unlike other years.

I have been working at Levi Strauss part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Easily the best coworkers I've ever worked with. Easy to learn the product. Most of what you sell is jeans and they're easy to fold. Everything is spread evenly on the floor and nothing is cramped.

    Cons

Sometimes little things are over stressed, but they usually have a reason behind it so its not TOO much of a negative.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have two rows of uppers. Having one is extremely inconvenient.

    Terrible Place to Work

I have been working at Levi Strauss part-time

    Pros

You get to wear jeans to work. That's not that big of a deal

    Cons

    There are so many!!!!!

The management never communicates ANYTHING to ANYONE except to tell stylists when sales are low (because with low sales they are unable to get their bonuses). They will hire anyone off the street and never train anyone properly. If you ask for more training you are either laughed at or ignored. The managers talk about each other and the rest of the staff like their incompetent trash no matter how well you're doing. When corporate visits the store and you're not a manager you are ignored like you are there to scrape gum off the floor.

When an upward position becomes available hires are brought in from the outside and are usually very very incompetent (these people are not introduced to you so you can work for months with your "new boss" without ever knowing their name. The people who are promoted are grossly unqualified but become a part of the club where everything they do (or don't do) gets a pass and if something goes wrong it's blamed on any and everyone else.

If you have a problem that involves HR it's swept under the rug or handle improperly.

The managers are bullies who hold grudges when they are wrong and will cut your hours down to nothing when they are mad or embarrassed.

The pay for stock is often the same or less than teenage stylists. Raises range from .16-.24. The discount is a mere 30%.
The turnover is out of control. Supervisors leave as soon as they're hired and regular employees come and go through a very well oiled revolving door.
If you're looking for a place to grow DONT WORK HERE!. Unless you're looking for spare change at the concession stand STAY AWAY!

The drama, lack of upward mobility, terrible pay, training, and bullying is not worth the pain. BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get your act together!!!!!!! Providing adequate communication and training does not mean someone is trying to take your job. If you're unqualified...read a book!
