Current Employee - Human Resources Manager in San Francisco, CA
Current Employee - Human Resources Manager in San Francisco, CA

I have been working at Levi Strauss full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Generally, nice people. Great brand heritage and strong community involvement.

Cons

Senior Executive Leadership Team is heavy on sizzle but light on substance. Recycled operating models and accompanying strategies and buzz words. Other than LGBT, there's an alarming lack of diversity and inclusion in a multitude of areas/levels of the company.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember all that initial talk about transparency. Recalibrate focus on developing members of the "in crowd" and actually create career ladders and related advancement opportunities for non-"leaders." Quickly put an end to the tired western/lumberjack looking apparel and continue modernizing styles.

I worked at Levi Strauss full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay, really easy job for a seasoned store manager, friendly staff

    Cons

Tons of disorganization and changes at the top. Very difficult to get feedback and issues addressed in your store due to DM changes. Had a horrible HR situation while terminating a volatile employee and very little was done to help myself and the staff. Non-existent training and visual programs

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stick to one business plan. Don't change focus every six months. Invest in having a uniform training manual for employees. Get an HR department!!!

I have been working at Levi Strauss full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Some really good people. Great brand image.

    Cons

    No career growth
    Org changes every few months
    Absolutely no HR presence
Focus is only on upper management
    No more perks
    Lame on site company parties

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a look at the people who are actually doing the work. How hard is it to promote within? You are losing a lot of really great people. It seems that all decisions are based on hierarchy. Considering the competition of companies that care about the employees, it's time to step up! Company used to be great
