I worked at LexisNexis Legal & Professional full-time (less than a year)

Pros

LexisNexis cares about the employees and clients, and seeks to maintain positive relationships with all.

Cons

The company is currently working on outsourcing a lot of work, which means that there has been some departmental reorganization and layoffs.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Many of your employees are worried about their jobs, and with good reason. Hearing about how much work was being shipped offshore was a constant worry.

I have been working at LexisNexis Legal & Professional full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    - Large, stable company with tons of potential.
    - Strong, passionate employees that truly want to see the company succeed.
    - In an area where technical resources are abundant

    Cons

    - Executive leadership that allows their arrogance to downplay most employee concerns.
    - An organization thats more concerned with 'messaging' and 'framing' conversations that surfacing and addressing real organization concerns.
    - Executive leadership team that follows more of a 'push' model for ideas and feedback instead of a 'pull' method to give employees a stage to voice concerns.
    - Attracting talent is difficult because the company has such a negative reputation in the area.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Please place your arrogance aside and actually listen to your employees.
    - Pay attention to the Employee Surveys that we spend time on.
    - Engage employees in recommending action plans to get us going in the right direction.

I have been working at LexisNexis Legal & Professional full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Large, stable company, has just weathered a huge downturn in business due to the economy and lawyers not wanting to buy stuff. Many resources available to help employees grow.

    Cons

In the software end of this company, they are still figuring out how to be a software company. Also such a large company means dealing with a lot of policies and procedures that really don't apply to our business unit or make life more difficult.
