I have been working at LexisNexis Legal & Professional full-time

Pros

Great team and middle management. Dedicated, smart people, though many of them are contractors and not full-time employees. Decent salaries and benefits. Large, reputable corporation behind this division.

Cons

Poor upper management and little to no communication with employees at large. A major shift is taking place that employees know about but management will not reveal, killing morale. Lots of water cooler doom talk. Rumors of further layoffs. Seemingly no day-to-day management of workforce. No path for future advancement, except maybe for MBA/think tank types.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

See cons and address those, if improving this company is a priority that management is interested in.

Frequent passive-aggressive behavior and contemptuous attitudes in the N.C. software business. But interesting products.

I worked at LexisNexis Legal & Professional as a contractor for less than a year

    Pros

The company is making headway into SaaS (software as a service) and reorganizes often to stay atop a dynamic market.

    Cons

Reorganizes often to stay atop a dynamic market.. Several managers seem to have passive-aggressive behaviors that (apart from the obvious personal drawbacks) result in many meetings to pin people down to commitments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More modeling and rewarding of humility and the celebration of others could reduce communications stonewalling and employee attrition.

I worked at LexisNexis Legal & Professional full-time for less than a year

    Pros

LexisNexis cares about the employees and clients, and seeks to maintain positive relationships with all.

    Cons

The company is currently working on outsourcing a lot of work, which means that there has been some departmental reorganization and layoffs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Many of your employees are worried about their jobs, and with good reason. Hearing about how much work was being shipped offshore was a constant worry.
