it was decent. you can do well for the first couple of years, but they have a sweat shop mentality after that

No opinion of CEO

Pros

decent pay. good benefits. large solid company name with good reputation. they give you time to learn the position and help get you started with licensing

Cons

management is definitely promoted more on a "minority basis" if you are the average white male, good luck at getting promoted or staying there. After your first two years they expect you two write a HUGE amount of policies with the constant thread of losing your job in 6 months if you dont produce. Other insurance companies, you can create a book of business and manage it - at liberty, you are forced to write massive amounts of business after the first two years.

Advice to Management

get some real managers. not people that were in customer service or just because they have a degree. start hiring managers based on experience in sales rather than because you can pay them less because they are a minority of some sort. It is pretty obvious what you are doing.

I worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The first few years are GREAT!!! You are making good money and building your business.

    Cons

. Now Liberty is adding too many offices to which agents are fighting for business and internet leads. Also, branch management is being hired from sales postions w/o any formal managment background nor training. I couldnt wait to leave!!!

    Advice to Management

none- will not make a difference.

Fair Employer but Slow Moving Culture/Environment

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Financial stability, compensation, benefits, development conversations required with your manager, supportive of growth/education/aspirations

    Cons

Slow changing, old culture. Very much "good old boys club" feel. If you haven't worked here for 20, 30 or 40 years, you're a "newbie" and don't get respect quickly.

    Advice to Management

The company has been successful due to diversification of product and great financial leadership. This culture does not engage or show appreciation for it's learning, development and HR functions. It could bring the company into the 21st century from a culture perspective (and potentially become a market competitor for talent leaving for biotech and tech houses like Google and Apple) if it could only think ahead in workforce management practices.
