    Pros

you CAN NOT get fired from working here. they just don't fire people.
(but because of that there is incompetence everywhere, the organization is riddled with it)

    Cons

In the 4 years I worked here the entire middle market segment reorganized 6 times, every time was more dramatic and traumatic then the time before.. The process and systems are awful. The management takes no ownership of any issues and leadership here is seriously lacking. The annual employee opinion survey scores reflect VERY unhappy employees. Every day that I worked there I saw people cry, scream and flip out. I've never worked at a company where so many people were on mental medical leave because working there literally drives people insane.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

take some ownership. stop it with the employee committees and the pop corn thursdays, that's not going to fix anything. Read the employee survey results. Management is the problem, needs an overhauling and a hefty injection of positive mojo and kindness.

I worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

-Overall good benefits. Bonus is good only if you reach level 16 - a senior level. 401K match is not bad, $6k a year tuition reimbursement, and 10% discount with Liberty Insurance policies which still may be higher than market rates.
-Their charity matching program works well and it is a big business for them. They do matching contributions 50 cents to the dollar, but they take charity deductions from your paycheck for many, many months before they disburse the money in installments to the charity organization of your choice. This helps their cash flow and also let's them make some additional interest revenue. They also use this program to bolster their corporate image.
-They have good, smart people. I made some good friends.

    Cons

-Performance reviews and ratings are pretty much determined by your manager. If he/she likes you, you will do well. Otherwise, forget it. He/she will make your life miserable until you move or quit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Explore other performance reviews options including having peers or stakeholders contribute to the reviews.
