Current Employee - Senior Business Analyst in Boston, MA

I have been working at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (more than a year)

Pros

- Significant opportunity for career progression
- Vast training and development resources
- Growing company with a very bright senior & executive management team

Cons

- Essentially impossible to get fired unless you significantly violate an HR policy (basically, there's lots of dead weight)
- Certain groups significantly outperform others yet are paid similar salaries (partially a function of the aforementioned con)

Advice to ManagementAdvice

- Start firing or demoting poor performing managers instead of laterally moving (or in some cases, promoting) them to positions where they can do less damage. There is plenty of eager talent available internally and externally.
- Stop or significantly restructure the ACH and CDP programs. They sound good in theory, but end causing more harm then good in reality. Paying people significantly higher-than-industry salaries costs the company unnecessary amounts of money and the disparity causes major moral problems with the rank and file. Also, many of them are unfit to move on to management positions after their rotations conclude.

    Pros

Pay is good, customer focused company.

    Cons

Health benefits are expensive and not that great. Company does not care about its employees. They lay off long term employees with no offer to relocate them to another department.
