I have been working at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (more than an year)

Pros

Paid training and licensing.
Unlimited earnings potential.
Fairly flexible schedule.
Truly enjoy most of my policy holders.

Cons

Indescribable amount of micro-management. (unless you are a top performer)
A whole lot of double standards.
You are completely replaceable in the sales role.
Hard to advance if you aren't willing to move.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Less time should be spent on managing people to spreadsheets and micro-managing everything people do!

I have been working at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great growth opportunities, support for training and development, excellent salary and benefits. The front-line employees are great to work with. Liberty is an emerging industry leader and junior employees can learn alot about how to run a successful business by working here.

    Cons

Increasingly commoditized, turbulent and somewhat boring industry. Culture is somewhat 'stuffy' compared to other companies. Organizational politics among senior managers can stall projects.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put more focus on leadership (vs. management) at the top and middle management layers. Make sure senior management is walking the walk. Continue to focus on developing service capabilities.

Former Employee - Claims Case Manager III in Weston, MA

I worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

A good company to work for, good compensation & benefits & a good group of people. The office building is convenient to 95 & The Mass Pike.

    Cons

Management was too concerned about "the numbers" and not the hard work & dedication of many of it's employees. There were no department or company parties to boost morale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More individual recognition, more employee awards, more internal gatherings & boost morale...
