Good work/life balance but uninspiring pay

Pros

There is good work/life balance and I usually get a sense that there isn't too much pressure to get things done. Nice colleagues and helpful managers with a supportive environment. The new office building in Boston is also very nice.

Cons

The salary is uninspiring to say the least and there is relatively slow career advancement/promotions. The company structure is very hierarchical and there isn't too much flexibility in job content and moving around. You also need to be passionate about the insurance industry in order to stay here long-term.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay is not competitive, especially for entry-level jobs. Work harder to attract and retain talent from top schools.

    Pros

    Competitive salary and flexible schedule. I love the people I work with.

    Cons

    Management, management, management...Re-organization about every 2 - 4 years. It takes a long time to move up in the organization. I have been here over 11 years with good performance ratings and feel like I'm going nowhere quick, or slow. I have seen numerous valuable employees let go or leave the company due to management and being run into the ground with too much work. This is a company that has a "promote from within" philosphy, but is rarely used. There are people in positions that are not qualified and there have been college new hires that have moved up quicker than I have.
