Everyone is so afraid that what is important is being lost

Pros

For a travel agency it is the highest paid in the industry as far as I know. Their new commission structure is very aggressive which in a sales atmosphere is needed.

Cons

They have lost their corporate identity since being taken over by flight centre. Many feel displaced and under-appreciated there. They days of being open 7 days a week really should just go away. Close on Sunday, and make your employees much happier and you won't see a change in sales due to it.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop being so scared about your own jobs that you are letting those down that support you the most. The pressure is on, Managers get that, but you ask too much now. And you are losing really great people b/c of it...and what's worse is that you know that. In business it does tend to be every man for himself, and there is no loyalty anymore. But if you continue to bury your head in the sand and allow this behavior to continue, you will eventually be pushed out yourself.

    Pros

It's one of the biggest travel agencies in the world so you can make good connections. There are still some perks for being a travel agent but there are not many these days and there are always less and less. You also can not use these perks during busy travel times when you probably would want to use them because either they are not available or management won't let you take off during busy times.

    Cons

It's a large corporation and can be frustrating to navigate.

I worked at Liberty Travel full-time

    Pros

Travel perks are decent and the company teaches you a lot. They give you the tools and opportunities to have a great career. They are big on brightness of future, but you need to take the initiative. The incentive structure is great, but not many people reach the highest percentage mark it seems. The base salary is minimal but probably better than most other companies in the industry.

Steadily making progress and becoming more profitable. Flight Centre is making strides, trying to make Liberty Travel a better company. The future definitely looks brighter. This is a good company to work for to get your career kick-started.

    Cons

7 day weeks need to disappear, it's too much. Not being able to have two consecutive days off really wears employees down, and makes it harder for them to perform at their highest potential.

Many employees who have been with Liberty Travel for a long time feel unappreciated and it discourages newer employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Big parties aren't the best way to show your employees they are appreciated. Allowing more family time, and small awards go a lot further and work better than anything else. Throwing huge bangers don't make all of the employees feel any better about the company.
