Former Employee - State Tested Nursing Assistant in Orange Park, FL

I worked at Life Care Centers full-time (less than an year)

Pros

The facility is clean and updated, they are nationally recognized, they have a good benefit plan for full-time employees

Cons

Training was a joke (3 days - even for newly graduated CNAs and nurses), no teamwork even though it's emphasized in orientation a great deal, constant favoritism by managers, terrible staffing, many residents had bed sores because they were not turned every 2 hours as required by state regulations

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop floating extra CNAs to other halls and make sure there are enough CNAs to residents so that CNAs don't have to juggle 12 residents at a time! There was never enough time to get patients ready for the day when you multiply 12 patients times 15 minutes per patient and get 2 hours. We only got 1 hour and 15 minutes to get residents ready. If there was 6 residents to 1 CNA, there would be WAY more time to get everything done. Also, don't allow double standards among managers. If a rule is applied to one employee, it should be applied to everyone - regardless of employment longevity.

    Pros

Improving quality of life for elderly and educational benefits don't count on the rest of benefits cause corporate will not come through

    Cons

Budget does not reflect new dining standards and bottom dollar first residents last

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Policy and procedures not upgraded to present day requirements. Upper management should talk to head office and give staff tools needed to be successful.
