    I worked at Life Care Centers full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    Beautiful facility with great patients. The lower staff LOVE the patients and get along quite well with each other (housekeeping, maintenance, CNAs, receptionists, admissions, business office employees, nurses, and PT/OT/ST- basically the in-house staff). The ADON was terrific and supportive to new nurses and CNAs.

    Cons

    Really unorganized. HUGE staff turnover, especially nurses and CNAs. Benefits are TERRIBLE. Expensive insurance with minimal coverage. You only get holiday pay if you've been there three months, and only if you work that holiday (no paid holidays off). You have to work a full year before earning a day of your vacation time. 3 months before earning a day of sick time, and if you call in sick, you need a doctor's note in order to use the sick time you earned. Even with this rule, call offs among nurses and CNAs is out of control. Only 3-4 shifts of orientation before throwing new nurses on the floor, CNAs often get even less. Nurses get written up for not taking a lunch (clocking out) or working more than 30 minutes past their scheduled time off. It's often impossible to take a lunch break (if you're the only nurse on the floor, you can't leave the floor to clock out) or clock out on time due to around the clock admissions and under staffing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    The patient's are the most important thing, not profit. The administrator made a reckless decision to save money and a patient almost died because of it. There is no excuse for this. Think of how you'd want your grandmother treated before looking out for your bonus. Give more orientation to new nurses, especially newly graduated nurses. Four shifts is not enough. Work on employee retention.

    Great support services, company mission, values, and customer service. Room for growth and relocation.

    Cons

    Long hours, high turn over, trying to cut costs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    When dealing with licensed professionals need to allow for more autonomy and less micromanagement. Morale/team building is in need of great improvement. Senior management promotes and hires based on patronage with unqualified/unlicensed mediocre performers.
