I worked at Life Technologies full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

With enough enthusiasm and willingness to learn, it's possible to take on lots of cool projects and gain a lot of experience.

Cons

The only downside is that accounts have the power to lay people off...but that happens at most companies

Advice to ManagementAdvice

When a lot people are laid off, you may want to assess the effectiveness of some of your leadership...as its most likely those people that cause the situation that led to the layoffs.

I worked at Life Technologies full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Good benefits, responsible corporate culture

    Cons

Work/life balance can be a bit swayed toward the work aspect. They have a tendency to understaff teams and expect others to pick up work that another employee would normally have done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't over extend your employees. Only so much work can/should be expected from one person in one day.

I have been working at Life Technologies

    Pros

Most people that work at Life are dedicated and engaged employees that are committed to helping each other professionally.

    Cons

Executive management has been steadily shrinking/eliminating benefits for several years to benefit shareholders at the expense of employee morale.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Short term financial gains won't help if the company has a brain drain in the future.
