Decent place to work, but not enough focus on R&D and not as nice as the original company before the buyout

    Pros

    Decent benefits package, competitive pay.

    Cons

Overly corporate environment, ridiculous amount of reviews and goal setting metrics. These are important, but when about 10% of everyday, year round is devoted to working on reviews, updating goal statuses, and doing metrics for yourself (even more time for the direct reports once a quarter) the performance gains become outweighed by the time loss.

    Advice to Management

More metrics does not mean better performance. Focus on the company and R&D rather than on addition of new / cheesy corporate initiatives and performance / team building presentations. We like each other just fine and work hard as is, we don't need another pep talk, cheesy goal quote, or to sit in on unnecessary meetings and training.
